UK vessel skipper and owners given large fines
If you’re fishing in Manx waters without the proper licence, you will be caught – and you can expect a large fine.
That’s the message from Environment, Food and Agriculture Minister Richard Ronan after the owner and skipper of a UK boat were fined a total of £17,000.
The Anne Mary B, from Fleetwood, was caught illegally catching whelks by the fisheries protection vessel Barrule last week.
Mr Ronan says it’s vital to protect Manx fisheries, both for the sake of the local industry and the conservation of stocks:
