Indoor hovercart centre planned in the south

Permission sought for activity space on Balthane Industrial Estate

There could soon be an 'indoor hovercart centre' in the south of the Island, subject to planning approval.

Proposals have been submitted to convert a unit on Balthane Industrial Estate in Ballasalla to an indoor recreation facility, with a view to developing the activity space aimed at six to 15-year-olds.

In the support documents, the applicant has described how a track will be laid out with cones, and five battery-powered carts will be able to complete laps of the course.

The proposals also incorporate parking and catering facilities, and borrows ideas from the 'Chill Factor' experience in Manchester.

The applicant says "I know there would be a call for it, as there is not a great deal of this type of recreational facility on the Island for children".

To see the plans in full, go to the gov.im planning and building control website.
