CPI rises to 2.3% at end of August
Inflation went up on the Island last month (August)
As measured by the Consumer Prices Index, the figure rose from 1.6 % in July to 2.3% at the end of August.
Government says the rising price of oil has been a significant driver of inflation, with its price of being 46% higher compared with August last year.
Food and drink, clothing and footwear, and recreation and culture all saw slight reductions, though food and drink is thought likely to increase again later in the year following the very dry summer.
There was bad news for dog owners and letter writers - with kennel fees up 20% and postage up 10.6%. Better news, however, for the man about town - men's outerwear and tea dropped by over 7%.
