Inmate found dead at the Isle of Man Prison

Matter referred to Coroner of Inquests

Investigations are underway after a serving prisoner was found dead at the Isle of Man Prison.

The man was found on Friday morning (24 February).

The Department of Home Affairs says the matter has now been referred to the Coroner of Inquests.

In a statement the department adds: “Thoughts are with the family and friends at this difficult time.”

The Isle of Man Constabulary has told Manx Radio: “The police and prison are in the process of investigating the circumstances surrounding the death and ask the public not to speculate at this time.

“The family have been notified and our thoughts are with them and the friends of the deceased.

“Police are unable to comment further at this time.”

The death at the prison is the second in three months.

In November serving prisoner Craig Jack Anderson was found dead - you can find out more HERE.

The Department of Home Affairs has declined an interview request from Manx Radio.
