An inquest into the death of a man whose body was found in a burning car has been opened and adjourned.
Emergency services were called out to the vehicle on Cranstall Road, near the Point of Ayre, on the evening of April 9.
When the flames were extinguished a body was found in the driver's seat.
It was subsequently identified as that of 58-year-old accountant David McLeman of Ballagorry Heights, Glen Mona.
Coroner of Inquests John Needham read a statement from Cato Brahde, who is managing director of the firm Mr McLeman worked for, Tufton Oceanic Management Ltd.
Mr Brahde said a headset Mr McLeman had used at work was handed over to police, to provide a DNA sample.
That was matched with a sample taken from the body by Home Office Pathologist William Lawler, who carried out the autopsy three days after the body was found.
He gave the cause of death as inhalation of products of combustion, burns and the effects of heat.
Mr Needham released the body to the family, offering his sincere condolences in the process, and adjourned the inquest to a date to be fixed.
