Sam Naughton fatally injured in incident at Doran's Bend
The inquest into the death of a local motorcycle racer who died during this year’s Manx Grand Prix has been opened and adjourned.
At Douglas Courthouse today (9 September) the coroner of inquests confirmed investigations into the death of Elliott Sam Naughton - who was known as Sam - are ongoing.
The court heard the 37-year-old suffered skull fractures after a collision during qualifying, at Doran's Bend, on 19 August.
He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Releasing the Castletown man's body so that funeral arrangements can take place, James Brooks offered his condolences to the racer's family and friends.
It was a sentiment echoed by the advocate representing the Auto Cycle Union who was also in court.
The inquest was adjourned to a date to be set.
