Grand Swiss Tournament from 7-20 October
An international chess tournament involving more than 200 players is to be held in the Isle of Man.
The World Chess Federational (FIDE) has announced the inaugural Grand Swiss Tournament is to head here in October.
The prize fund is $400,000 (US), with an additional $32,500 allocated as special women's prizes.
The Federation says the Island put in a 'perfectly prepared application' and expects the 'strongest Swiss system tournament in the history of chess'.
