Internet prices "arguably too high" says MHK calling for social tariffs

Moorhouse seeking Tynwald backing for affordability motion

Internet prices on the Isle of Man are ‘arguably too high’ and government should be ensuring the cost is reflective of what people can afford to pay.

That’s the view of Arbory, Castletown and Malew MHK who is hoping to win Tynwald backing for a motion calling for the investigation on affordability of communications services.

Jason Moorhouse has previously approached the Office of Fair Trading and the Communications and Utilities Regulatory Authority but says he was told they couldn’t do anything without a political steer.

He’s told Manx Radio he’s hopeful his fellow politicians will support his plans to look at introducing social tariffs:
