Investigation into Manx Telecom's internet outage

Communications Commission to look at incident

An investigation has been launched into the loss of internet suffered by up to 7,000 Manx homes and businesses over the last two days.

The issue was resolved by Manx Telecom last night (26 Aug), but the incident is now being looked at by the Communications Commission.

It's under investigation as a there are a number of provisions within Manx Telecom’s licence designed to safeguard the network.

The watchdog will determine if there's been any breach of regulations in the recent outage.

CEO of Manx Telecom Gary Lamb says the cause of the problem hasn't been identified yet, and anyone still without internet is asked to get in touch.

He's confirmed the company will look to compensated anyone who's incurred extra costs during this period.
