Invitation to help mark centenary of Great War

Fallen to be commemorated at special concert

The sacrifice made by families across the Island in the Great War will be marked in a special concert of music and poetry later this year.

The National Festival of Remembrance will see some of the Island's best known musical groups come together at the Villa Marina, to commemorate the centenary of the end of World War One.

Eighty-two percent of the eligible male population of the Island volunteered to fight in the conflict from 1914.

President of the Royal British Legion, Isle of Man county, Steve Rodan, says the toll on the community was great:

The concert, on November 10th, is free to attend, and tickets are available at the Welcome Centre, and on the Villa Gaiety website.
