IoM residents born in UK could vote in future UK elections

Elections Bill moving through Westminster process

People living in the Isle of Man who were born in the United Kingdom and moved more than fifteen years ago could be able to vote in future UK elections.

The proposal is part of the Elections Bill which is about to have its third reading in the House of Commons.

If successful, it will then go to the House of Lords.

The Liberal Democrat politician, Lord Wallace of Saltaire, is concerned it will give people who don't wish to pay U.K. tax rates, a say in who will be in power in Westminster:
