IOMMC Chairman confident for future of meat plant

'Largely positive' meeting at Bemahague

Around 120 people attended a meeting at Bemahague School last night (Tues 14) to discuss the future of the Island's meat plant.

The meeting outlined more details about how the Tromode facility will operate.

Chairman of the newly formed Isle of Man Meat Company, Tim Baker, says it was a largely positive meeting but admits it's a "last chance saloon" for the facility.

However, following an injection of £1 million of government money, he believes there's now a viable future for it.

Speaking on this morning's Mandate programme (Wed), Mr Baker says whilst there are those who believe this move should have been made years ago - he now had to look to the future - not the past.
