The Department of Education and Children says it has a duty to provide education – and it carries out checks to make sure families belong on the Isle of Man.
In the House of Keys this morning, Middle MHK Howard Quayle quizzed Minister Tim Crookall about families he claimed were exploiting the system.
Mr Quayle asked whether the government would consider issuing residency certificates and if schools could then exclude those who don’t have one.
Mr Crookall said extensive checks are already carried out when children apply for places in schools.
