Serious and Organised Crime Officer responds to claim from UK newspaper
The Isle of Man isn't a 'hotbed' for organised crime, but criminals are said to be taking greater risks to bring larger quantities of drugs here.
That's from police following a report in the Daily Mail that the Island's prison was 'overrun with Liverpool drug traffickers and money launderers'.
The article focused in part on the Isle of Man Constabulary's 'Operation Vineyard'.
The Department of Home Affairs says reports like the Daily Mail's reflect the scale of the Island's response, rather than the scale of the issue itself.
