Island follows UN on asset freezing
The Treasury has renewed its asset-freezing powers against a number of people connected to international terrorism.
In accordance with UN and European rulings made in the wake of 9/11, government can deny access to money stored on the Island by certain individuals.
The latest move by Treasury applies to five men already under international sanctions, as well as two new additions.
Joining the list are insurgent leader Aslan Byutukayev, a known commander for Islamic State; and Ayrat Vakhitov, who's currently on trial for his involvement in June's attack on Akaturk Airport in Istanbul.
The two men join Iranian general Qasem Soleimani - once dubbed the 'single most powerful operative in the Middle East' and widely regarded as an ally of Syrian dictator Bashar al-Assad.
He's one of five men under international scrutiny over a plot to kill the Saudi ambassador to the United States.
The sanctions give Manx financial institutions a duty to find out whether those named are keeping assets on the Island, and suspending funds as necessary.
