Island experiencing 'significant challenges' in recruiting vets

DEFA says it's affecting public and private sector

The Isle of Man is experiencing ‘significant challenges’ in recruiting vets.

That’s from government which says it’s a problem affecting the public and private sector.

The Department of Environment, Food and Agriculture says it’s attempting to work with other government departments to try and ease the pressure.

Giving evidence to the Environment and Infrastructure Policy Review Committee the minister Clare Barber said her department is coming up against recruitment challenges:

Last week Arg Beiyn and Milan veterinary practices asked people who were awaiting routine appointments to reschedule,

This, they said, was due to high levels of emergency cases saying staff were working ‘diligently to meet demand’.
