Island food stores adapt to new lockdown rules

Changing opening hours and social distancing measures

Supermarkets and convenience stores around the Island have been putting in changes today ahead of the start of lockdown.

As per government guidance, social distancing measures will be in place in every essential shop, hand sanitising and wearing face masks being strongly advised.

Co-op stores will be reintroducing an elderly and vulnerable shopping hour every morning between 9-10 throughout lockdown.

Robinsons Fresh Foods will be reducing opening hours slightly.

The Cooil Road Store will be open between 8am-4pm on weekdays, but closed on Sundays, whilst the store on Prospect Terrace will be open between 8am-6:30pm, and also closed on Sundays.

This is to allow for extra cleaning in the stores.

EVF currently doesn’t have plans to alter business hours, however say as its produce is 98% local they will have plenty of stock.

Each store has emphasised the amount of stock available and coming in, and assures there’s no need for customers to panic buy.
