Rushen & Western Mann branch donates to disease eradication fund
A Rotary Club on the Isle of Man is marking World Polio Day today (24 October), by donating to a fund aimed at eradicating the disease.
Polio is a highly contagious, vaccine-preventable disease that attacks the nervous system.
Rotary International runs the PolioPlus Fund, which supports immunisation, disease surveillance and response efforts to stop the spread of poliovirus worldwide.
The Rotary Club of Rushen and Western Mann has donated £1,800 to the fund.
Its president Cecilia Ngotho says: “Every pound raised and every voice raised brings us closer to the finish line to secure a safer, polio-free future for children all over the world.”
