Island well prepared to deal with Monkeypox says GUM consultant

Those who contract virus could be sent to UK for treatment

People who contract Monkeypox on the Isle of Man could be sent to specialist hospitals in the UK for treatment.

That's according to a consultant working in Genito-Urinary Medicine, at Noble’s Hospital, who says Manx Care is well prepared to deal with any cases.

Anyone who develops unusual rashes, or lesions on any part of their body – especially their genitalia – is urged to contact the sexual health clinic or their GP.

Dr Debashis Mandal says whilst it is usually a mild illness some people may need more specialist care:

Anyone who is concerned should contact their GP or the sexual health clinic on 650710.
