Isle of Man Air Services Review published

It looks at modern Manx airport passenger numbers up to 2019

A review of Isle of Man Air Services has described the establishment of a Manx Airline, based on the Isle of Man and funded by the Government as by far the most expensive option.

Steer were commissioned by The Department of Enterprise two years ago.

This review has appeared after former Infrastructure Minister Chris Thomas put down a motion in this months Tynwald demanding its appearance.

The review looks at modern Manx airport passenger numbers up to 2019.

It lists what it terms financial levers, including use of levels of air passenger duty.

And designation of routes as Public Service Obligations, opening up the possibility of a government subsidy.

It examines the effect of Open Skies which it says resulted in lower frequency on some services, reduced capacity which did not satisfy the demand of the overall market and limited opportunities to connect to global air networks via other large airports.
