'It's normal to be scared' - Dr Alex Allinson

Education minister hosts coronavirus conference

Dr Alex Allinson took it upon himself to try to reassure members of the public during today's coronavirus media briefing.

Taking the conference alone, he told people it is normal to be scared and frightened of this invisible threat and to want to do something to help, however, stated the main thing everyone can do to help is to stay at home.

He urged people not to be tempted to leave the house over the weekend.

Regarding Manx Utilities, Minister Allinson says no-one will be cut off during the pandemic.

He said if anyone is facing concerns, Manx Utilities will try to help in any way they can, and encouraged those worrying to call the MU Emergency Line on 687687.

Electricity meters have been enabled with an emergency fund of £30 and, though the water sewage works are doing well, Dr Allinson implored people to use water resources wisely.

The Education Minister and Chair of Manx Utilities concluded his speech saying that while we're living through difficult times, it has brought out the best in people and some incredible examples of bravery.
