Crossroads reacts to latest 'State of Caring' report

It's time for carers on the Isle of Man to have equal rights, according to a charity that supports them.

The third 'State of Caring' report reiterated a number of areas of concern, particularly around their wellbeing and the number able to claim Carer's Allowance.

The first reports were published in 2018 and 2022 and are planned to be released every other year going forward.

It's been compiled by Crossroads Carers alongside the Department of Health and Social Care.

Jackie Betteridge is the charity's CEO, and says government needs to choose what it wants to prioritise:

Last year, government launched a Carer's Strategy laying out a timetable of changes it hoped to make to better support carers.

The health minister, Claire Christian, says despite a delay to the rollout, her department recognises and values the work done by carers:

You can see the strategy in full HERE.
