Jack Frost to close down

Meals on Wheels caterer to shut doors

Meals on Wheels supplier Jack Frost is to close down later this month.

Poor sales and projections are being blamed for the decision to cease operations a fortnight today (16 February).

Bosses have expressed 'deep regret and sadness' at the sudden decision to wind down the business.

They say 'unless trading turns around immediately', the company will be closing its doors in Braddan after 43 years.

Originally founded as a potato delivery business, the Marsland family's empire at one time included restaurants and tourist accomodation, in addition to the frozen wholesales it is known for today.

Staff began delivering Meals on Wheels for older residents just three weeks ago, after government controversially cut its ties with former provider Age Isle of Man.

While today's announcement is not being linked to that decision, bosses say the loss of Jack Frost's own contract to supply hospitals and schools 'forced' them to rethink its future.
