Boss says families of trainee welders distraught following prison sentence
Trainee welders jailed for breaking self-isolation rules on the Isle of Man are 'traumatised' and their families have been left distraught.
That's according to their boss after five employees from Haigh* Rail were given prison sentences for visiting Tesco instead of heading straight to their accommodation when they arrived on the Island last week.
The group, which came to the Island to work on the Manx Electric Railway, included two 18-year-olds and a 22-year-old.
Head of welding at the Doncaster-based company, Michael Downing, says it's been emotional for all involved:
Main road between Peel and Douglas to shut for tree felling
'Targeted and intelligence led approach' to protect Island's borders during Irish sailings
Airport Director role advertised with top salary of £120,000
Traders on Michael Street feel 'abandoned' by politicians in tough times
