Jobs at risk after buyout of Arcadia brands

Burton, Dorothy Perkins and Wallis set to be affected

Jobs on Douglas high street are at risk after a deal was struck to buy Burton, Dorothy Perkins and Wallis out of administration.

Online fashion retailer Boohoo agreed to purchase the Arcadia Group brands for £25 million, but this doesn't include any of the 214 UK stores.

It means 2,450 jobs across the UK are at risk, with around 20 set to be affected on the Isle of Man.

It follows the closure of Topshop last week, which cost 11 people here their jobs.

The Burton, Dorothy Perkins and Wallis stores on Strand Street and Duke Street remain open today, but say they're trading on 'a day-by-day basis'.

It's until they receive further information from administrators Deloitte.

Manx Radio has contacted the accounting organisation for comment.
