Just over half the vehicles examined were defective

Notices were issued for faulty lights, worn tyres, and a missing wheel nut

Seventeen out of 32 vehicles stopped and examined by the constabulary last night (14 November) were found to be defective.

Officers from the Roads Policing Unit conducted the final roadside checkpoint as part of Operation Uplift at the Grandstand in Douglas.

Notices were issued for faulty lights, worn tyres, and a missing wheel nut.

The constabulary says although this was the last checkpoint of the operation, officers on patrol will continue to carry out routine checks of vehicles over the weekend.
