Keys plans for committee-style sitting

Move to end number of times MHKs can speak on an issue

A recommendation allowing for the House of Keys to pause legislative business and sit in a committee style format has been given the go-ahead by MHKs.

Arbory, Castletown and Malew member Graham Cregeen proposed the move - he says it gives members more time to discuss clauses and ideas in greater detail.

It would end restrictions on the number of times members can speak on an issue.

Peel and Glenfaba MHK, Geoffrey Boot, opposes the changes, and says his colleagues need to come prepared for parliamentary debate.
