Keys returns after summer recess

Brexit and divorce law on Keys paper

The House of Keys is back in session today after its annual summer recess.

Just ten questions await ministers this morning, but matters such as abortion reform and post-Brexit trade arrangements are also on the agenda.

In the first sitting of the House since June, the Health Minister will face questions over spending within his department and waiting lists at the hospital.

Growing the cruise tourism industry, cost savings at the Post Office and road accidents involving MER trams are also under the spotlight.

Outside questions, the European Union and Trade Bill 2018 - which sets out the Island's stall for international deals after Brexit - will have its first reading.

Garff MHK Daphne Caine will also seek to introduce a new Private Member's Bill designed to make it easier for couples to divorce.

Dr Alex Allinson will also formally bring forward a set of amendments to the Abortion Reform Bill, recommended by the Legislative Council.

The House of Keys sits at 10am.

You can hear coverage of the sitting on our AM1368 frequency, online at manxradio.com or via smartphone apps.
