King Charles III to be proclaimed as Lord of Mann today

Ceremony will take place at Government House this afternoon (11 September)

Later today, His Excellency the Lieutenant Governor of the Isle of Man Sir John Lorimer will proclaim His Majesty King Charles III as Lord of Mann.

The ceremony will take place at Government House in Onchan at 12 Noon.

It will take place at the same time as proclamations are made in fellow Crown Dependencies of Jersey and Guernsey.

Today's ceremony from Government House will be broadcast live on Manx Radio.

A second proclamation ceremony will then take place on Friday, 16 September at 11am from Tynwald Hill in St Johns, the ancient seat of the Kings and Lords of Mann.

That will be based on the one held there in 1952 to proclaim Queen Elizabeth II, and will be similar to the normal Tynwald Day ceremony.

After this, a resolution of loyalty and condolence will be put before a sitting of Tynwald Court in the Royal Chapel.

Members of the public will be welcome to attend the proceedings on Tynwald Hill.
