Knife sales bring 'great revenue' but 'my conscience can't be bought'

Store owner has stopped selling blades to those under 21

A store owner in Douglas says people under 21 will not be allowed to purchase a knife from his shop. 

Lee Watson is also looking to 'wind down' on his range and ultimately stop selling blades.

Extreme Arts and Gadgets has announced it will no longer keep pocket, camping or movie knives due to a rise in anti-social behaviour here and in the UK. 

Whatever stock remains in his store will be sold to those aged 21 and over until it's all gone, as co-owner Mr Watson explains: 

A police spokesperson says the constabulary always supports responsible sales and practices by business owners and would remind the public that it will act upon any information relating to the possession of or attempting to purchase of anything illegal.

The topic of knives being sold to people here has also been a concern for some of our politicians. 

Back in March, the House of Keys heard 49 knives were seized by Isle of Man Post Office. 

Chair Stu Peters explained a ban was placed on all types of bladed items being sent to the Island in April last year, but between November 2024 and April this year, they were still finding them:
