‘Lack of clarity of Covid-19 plans puts teachers at risk', says union

NASUWT 'disappointed' by Island's Covid-19 plans for schools

A teachers union has hit out at the supposed ‘lack of clarity and consultation over Covid-19 plans’.

The NASUWT says the safety of Isle of Man teachers is at risk, due to lack of adequate co-ordinated planning with the workforce, regarding the partial closure of schools.

Acting General Secretary of the NASUWT, Ms Chris Keates, says the union is ‘disappointed’ and plans being made are ‘in stark contrast to other Island jurisdictions.’

Ms Keates also calls on the Department of Education, Sport and Culture, and Minister Allinson to work with them to devise an approach.

She urges parents to act responsibly and only send their child to school if they are a key worker or have no other option.
