Last sitting of Tynwald for 2022 today

Meat Plant, E-scooters and banking reforms up for discussion

Tynwald will meet for the final time in 2022 today.

The last sitting of the year will include a financial statement from the treasury minister and recommendations on the future running of the Meat Plant.

The Environment and Infrastructure Policy Committee, chaired by MLC Rob Mercer, wants members to reaffirm the opinion that the governance, management, regulations, strategy and operations of the Tromode facility be reviewed and reformed as soon as possible.

Other subjects to be covered include Manx biodiversity, alterations to the beneficial ownership provision and the Energy Efficiency Scheme to provide direct support for materials.

There are also 17 questions tabled for the court.

They include an urgent inquiry on the effect on the Island of banking reforms announced last week in the UK, support for Laxey Glen Mills, behaviour policy in schools and the preservation of the historic Castle Mona Hotel.

E-scooters, modular housing for key workers and improvements on the road near Fairy Bridge will also be raised by Island politicians.

You can listen to coverage of Tynwald via the Manx Radio AM1368 frequency from 10.30am.
