Laxey flood victims still facing huge insurance premiums

Water damaged over 60 properties in October 2019

Nearly two years after flood water ripped through more than 60 properties on Glen Road, Laxey, residents are still finding it difficult, or impossible to obtain home insurance.

A key recommendation in an independent Arup report that followed the incident was that Treasury investigate access to, and affordability of house insurance for victims

Andrew Smith of the Garff Flood Action committee says people are still having difficulties.

Asked for comment government issued a short statement saying work remains ongoing in this area and an update will be provided in due course.
