Devon Watson says it's important to 'invest' in the area to protect it from storms and high tides
The Leader of Douglas Council says he is 'thrilled' that a scheme to redevelop two sections of the promenade and Queen's Gardens has been granted planning permission.
It's expected to cost £1.4m and will see a new play area and an "urban sports area" installed in the Marine Gardens, whilst further along new seating and a beach shower will be built.
Mr Watson says the council will soon be opening the tender process and petitioning the Department of Infrastructure for the money.
