New measures to outlaw substances
New legislation banning so-called legal highs has been unaimously approved by Tynwald.
Members have endorsed an order which will restrict the sale, import and export of a wide spectrum of new drugs which have soared in popularity in recent years.
It means substances which affect the user's central nervous system will be illegal to produce, sell, or distribute on the Island, with the exception of alcohol, tobacco, medicine and food.
The Act, which does not ban posession in prisons, is a near-carbon copy of similar laws introduced in the UK earlier this year.
