Minister reflects on reform victory
Changes to the way future chief ministers are elected prove Manx politicians are progressive, according to the Policy and Reform Minister.
Chris Thomas secured the support of Keys colleagues in a landmark vote yesterday, which would exclude unelected Legislative Council members from having a say in the matter.
But the Bill must first get a minimum of 17 signatures in Tynwald to become law.
It's one of a package of measures put forward in Lord Robert Lisvane's report into the functioning of the Manx parliament.
Mr Thomas says challenging established traditions is 'the will of the people':
Amber weather warning issued as strong winds and coastal conditions expected overnight
Hospice funding criticised by UK charity chief amid Isle of Man service cuts
Sailings cancelled as storm brings gale-force winds
Manx Mountain Marathon route diverted over safety concerns amid forecast strong winds
