Keynote speech to mark UN Day
The maturity of the Island's parliament is admired and respected by small nations around the world.
The view of Lieutenant Governor of the Isle of Man Sir Richard Gozeny, who has made his first public speech since taking office here five months ago.
Sir Richard delivered an address at an event to mark United Nations Day, at the Manx Museum last night.
He praised Tynwald members for mixing 'strong convictions with tempered debate', and said the Island's non-party political system compared favourably to other small states like Gibraltar and Bermuda.
He said that although impartial, he admired the passion shown throughout Manx politics:
