Schools Day set to inspire youngsters

Island youngsters are set to have their imaginations fired today (29 Sept) at special sessions with visiting authors, illustrators and storytellers.

Schools Day has become a popular annual feature of Isle of Man LitFest, which is underway in venues around the Island until Sunday.

Another story-telling event takes centre stage this evening, when Wales-based performance group The Devil's Violin brings its touring show 'Stolen' to King William's College.

One of the biggest draws of LitFest 2017 will be Writer's Day on Saturday -  also hosted at the College - and billed as a 'must' for all budding writers.

LitFest organiser John Quirk says there'll be plenty on offer for those keen to learn the secret of successful writing.

Writer Melinda Salisbury will be in Waterstone's book shop in Douglas, talking about her best-selling young adult novels, tonight from 6.45pm.

Chris Arnot will discuss his new book Small Island by Little Train, with an audience at St Catherine's church hall in Port Erin from 7.30pm.

For a celebration of Manx poetry and poets, Pulleyman and Friends are at the British Hotel in Douglas from 7:30pm on Saturday night.
