Police say prison sentence sends out 'clear message'
A Liverpool woman has been jailed for almost five years after being caught with Class A drugs on the Isle of Man.
37-year-old Nicola Rock, of Croxteth, was sentenced at Douglas Courthouse this morning (1 July).
She'd admitted two offences of possessing cocaine and heroin with intent to supply.
Police arrested Rock, on Bay View Road in Port St Mary, on 22 June – she was in a white Ford Fiesta which had a UK registration.
She was taken to Noble's Hospital and, three days later, 7.7 grammes of heroin was recovered which had a street value of between £962.50 and £1,925.
Cocaine, weighing 20.1 grammes, was also seized which had a street value of £2,010.
Sentencing her to four years and six months in custody Deemster Graeme Cook also imposed a five-year exclusion order meaning Rock will be banned from the Isle of Man on her release.
Superintendent John Phillips told Manx Radio: "Class A drugs blight too many lives with adverse consequences for society at large.
"This sentence sends a clear message out that police and courts in the Isle of Man will deal robustly with offenders involved in drug dealing and importation."
