Councillor believes it's worthwhile even if it costs ratepayers more
Douglas Borough Council has voted to encourage all of its contractors to pay their staff the Manx Living Wage.
It will now be included as specific evaluation criteria in the council's procurement process.
The current Living Wage is £10.87 per hour.
Councillor Claire Wells believes that although it may cost the ratepayer more, it's a worthwhile endeavour:
Ramsey and District Cottage Hospital closure 'inconvenient' but 'significant issues' need to be fixed
Four local authorities looking for by-election candidates
Reinstatement of home births 'remains at top of agenda' for Manx Care
Weekend sailings at risk
