Ballaugh tree affected by Dutch Elm Disease
A large elm tree which has stood in Ballaugh play area for around 250 years will be cut down.
It's been earmarked for the chop since last year after it was found to have Dutch Elm Disease.
Another nearby tree will also be felled on Monday (15 June) and the timber will be taken to an approved burn site.
A statement from the commissioners said: "Tree felling requires careful planning with the safety of the public and workers as the top priority.
"For this reason the old railway line will be closed during the operation and a large cordon will be placed around the work area.
"The park will also be closed for safety.
"At present we do not know whether the trunk of either tree can be saved for a wood carving as this will depend on their condition."

"We hope the felling and clean-up can be completed in two days however a closure order is in place for three days in case any issues arise.
"During the operation our Chairman, Steve Curphey, will be on site to oversee the work and answer questions from the public."
Paul Weatherall, the vice-chair of Ballaugh Commissioners, says many village residents will be sad to see it go:
Mr Weatherall is standing in the House of Keys General Election in September - also standing in the constituency of Ayre and Michael is Mary Phillips.
