Lord Street and Market Hill set for revamp
Major work reconstructing Market Hill and a section of Lord Street in Douglas will get underway on Monday (2 September).
The Department of Infrastructure is hoping the revamp will make the area safer for pedestrians, as well as improving the access from the high street to North Quay.
The scheme was initially set to begin in June, before being pushed back.
Construction Manager Gary Saunders told Chris Cave why it was delayed, and how residents would be impacted:
'Targeted and intelligence led approach' to protect Island's borders during Irish sailings
Airport Director role advertised with top salary of £120,000
Traders on Michael Street feel 'abandoned' by politicians in tough times
Isle of Man economy contracts for second year
