Man accused of trying to post more than £2,500

Twenty-nine-year-old tried sending parcel to UK

A Douglas man will be sentenced in the Court of General Gaol Delivery after admitting trying to send a parcel of cash to the UK.

Twenty-nine-year-old Liam John Wilson of Hillside Avenue appeared before magistrates at Douglas courthouse.

He pleaded guilty to possessing cannabis and attempting to remove criminal property.

Prosecution advocate Rebecca Cubbon told the hearing Wilson went to Ronaldsway Airport on 3 September.

Wilson tried to send a parcel to Stoke on Trent but aroused suspicions at the cargo centre when he became nervous.

Staff called police, and the package was found to contain more than £2,500.

Magistrates committed Wilson to be sentenced in the higher court, as well as asking for probation reports to be prepared before his next appearance.

He was bailed in the sum of £500 to appear in court again on 6 November.
