37-year-old changes pleas to guilty
A Douglas man will be sentenced next year after admitting assaulting his partner and her 12-year-old daughter.
John Francis Rory Stephens, of Lord Street, appeared at Douglas Courthouse where he changed his original pleas.
The 37-year-old also admitted damaging an iPhone belonging to his partner at their home address in Laxey on 24 October.
Police were called to the Ballacannell Estate in the early hours after a domestic dispute – Stephens had allegedly sworn at the woman before punching her in the head.
The prosecution alleges he then pulled her to the floor by her hair, and applied pressure to her neck leaving her struggling to breathe before biting her leg.
Stephens then pinned the woman’s 12-year-old daughter against a window after she tried to intervene.
A Newton Hearing – where the facts will be agreed – will take place on 15 February; Stephens has been bailed until that date.
