Man avoids prison, despite breaking parole

Fine and community service given

A man’s avoided being recalled to prison after breaking a nightclub door while on parole.

Frankie James Thompson, of Summerhill Road in Douglas, appeared before High Bailiff Jayne Hughes at Douglas courthouse.

The hearing was told Thompson had been released from jail in August last year.

He went drinking after splitting with his partner on Valentine’s Day, but got into an argument in Bordello in the early hours of the following morning, and flipped a table of drinks.

Thirty-three-year-old Thompson was escorted out of the club by security staff, who locked the door after he was ejected.

He began kicking the glass door, smashed it, and was then arrested.

Mrs Hughes heard he was truly sorry for his actions and had gone back to the nightclub a day later to apologise and pay £300 for the damage.

He was ordered to do 160 hours community service and pay £125 towards prosecution costs.
