29-year-old found with cocaine and cannabis during TT
A Port Erin man who was caught with cocaine and cannabis during TT week has been 'scared straight'.
Gabriel Cristian Grosu, of Edremony, was stopped and searched on the Mountain Road on 3 June.
Police found Kinder Egg packaging with almost four grams of cocaine inside with a street value of £387.
A subsequent search of his home, the next day, recovered less than a gram of cannabis.
The 29-year-old pleaded guilty to possessing the Class A and Class B substances during an appearance at Douglas Courthouse.
Grosu’s advocate said his client had been going out to ‘have a good time’ but the experience of being stopped was a ‘very frightening one’ adding: "He's been scared straight so to speak."
"He deeply regrets having those items and becoming involved with illicit substances.” – David Clegg (Advocate).
Magistrates fined Grosu £750 and ordered him to pay £125 in prosecution costs telling him: "We are pleased to hear you have finished dabbling in illicit drugs."
