Man denies assaulting police officer, shoplifting, possessing drugs

Committed to Court of General Gaol

A man's appeared in court accused of shoplifting, possessing drugs with intent to supply them and assaulting a police officer all on the same day.

Thirty-six-year-old Jonathon Edward Myers, of Victoria Road in Douglas, denied theft when he appeared before magistrates at Douglas Courthouse.

He’s previously pleaded not guilty to the other two charges.

The court heard all the offences are said to have taken place on 28 January.

Prosecutor Barry Swain told the hearing Mr Myers is alleged to have stolen a Berghaus jacket worth £200 from Milletts in Castle Street in Douglas.

He’s currently waiting to stand trial on the drugs and assault charge.

Magistrates granted him technical bail in the sum of £500.

He’s been committed to the Court of General Gaol Delivery, and will appear again on a date to be fixed.
