Police say a man is in a serious condition in hospital after being attacked on Loch promenade, Douglas, in the early hours of this morning.
It happened at around 3am, near the prom's junction with Walpole Avenue.
The man's head injuries are described as 'significant'.
Inspector Mark Newey is urging anyone who was in the area at the time to come forward and call him via 631212.
He says officers understand a man involved in the incident was picked up by an unknown vehicle just after it happened.
Police are asking the driver of that vehicle to contact them.
