Man made sexual suggestions to 14-year-old boy, court hears

Police were called to Andreas Racing Association dinner

A court’s heard a Laxey man made drunken sexual suggestions to a 14 year old boy at a social event for motorbike racers.

Fifty-eight-year-old Robert Black of New Road appeared before magistrates at Douglas Courthouse.

He admitted using provoking behaviour on 22 January at the Ramsey Park Hotel during a dinner for the Andreas Racing Association.

Prosecution advocate Hazel Caroon told the court Black had turned up to the event drunk, and sat next to the teenager just after 8pm.

The hearing was told Black told the teenager he looked like a girl and said he was “into trans guys” before saying he could show him the time of his life.

The child’s mother angrily intervened and Black moved away, only to repeatedly approach the youngster during the evening until police were called.

Black was arrested in the early hours of the morning and the court heard he described the incident as “a bit mental” to police officers.

He was bailed while pre-sentencing reports are prepared by probation, and will next appear in court on 26 May.
