30-year-old flipped car on its roof
A man's been remanded in custody as he awaits sentencing after crashing his car whilst drunk.
Thirty-year-old Stephen Paul Binding pleaded guilty to dangerous driving, driving while over the limit and having no licence or insurance at Douglas Courthouse.
Binding crashed his Vauxhall Vectra, after overtaking a van into the path of an oncoming car on the Kirk Michael to Ballaugh coast road, on 4 August last year.
He hit the van's offside, as he swerved to avoid the other vehicle, and flipped his car which landed on its roof in the road.
When police arrived he claimed somebody else had been driving but was arrested after officers smelled alcohol.
At Police Headquarters a blood sample and calculations showed he'd have been just under twice the legal limit at the time of the crash.
He was committed for sentencing in the Court of General Gaol Delivery and remanded in custody until his next appearance there on 22 April.
